Virgin America launches new "nerd bird" route

I spent a few years in Austin and I remember people mentioning the "nerd bird" flight between Austin and San Jose (Silicon Valley). It was called the "nerd bird" because supposedly it's a bunch of nerds (smart people) that fly between these two cities, as both cities have a shared culture of startup tech companies.

Well, I just read something today that reminded me of that. Virgin America has has started a flight between Austin and San Francisco, and they are making a big deal out of it. They even got a band to play on the inaugural flight.
